For your consideration is an exceptionally rare, LOETZ Phänomen Genre 2/484 ‘
MEDICI
’ Art Glass Lamp, circa 1902.
This is an extraordinary piece and likely one of a very few that exist. Both the base and shade are executed in the
MEDICI
décor having a gold chestnut colored ground with large fused iridescent spotting that reflects numerous colors of the spectrum.
The base has a footed bottom and is very sturdy. It has a four sided-pinched body finished with a spectacular globed shade. The hardware is a brassy gold colored metal and for the most part appears to be original. The shade ring has an ornate design and would accept hanging prisms if one desired. This is a nice size piece measuring an overall height of approx. 19½” tall.  The base bottom to font top is 9½” tall x 9½” at widest. The shade is 6” tall by 11½” at widest.
Overall the lamp is in excellent antique condition. The shade is free of any chips, cracks or repairs with very light age related wear - rim has some tiny edge nicks - not seen when sitting in ring. The base has no chips or repairs with light age related wear. There are two hairlines protruding from the drilled hole on base, longest is about 1.5” long - they appear stable and cannot be felt on the outside of glass. The hardware is in great condition with light age related wear and finish loss.
The lamp does work and has had a new cloth cord replacement at some time. We do highly recommend as with all used electrical items that electrical components be inspected by a qualified person before use.
