Description
ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!The roots of Loetz Glass goes back to the early 1800's in the
Southern Bohemian town of Klostermühle, today part of the Czech Republic.
This stunning vase was produced in the
Art Nouveau/Art Deco period of the company in the early 1900's, likely around 1920.
The vase was formed from blown glass, and has two waists and a frilled rim. The exterior is iridescent with a silver blue Papillon decor on a brilliant gold. The colors move with the light, hinting at blue, gold and lavender shades. The interior is a smooth blue-gold, and the vase rests on three applied glass ball feet.
This vase is a beautiful example of Loetz Art Deco glass, highly valued by collectors. The vase in good condition - there is
some minor scratching, and
a chip on the bottom that is not visible when standing (please see photos). We believe that it is part of the scar left from the removal of the pontil rod during the hand-blown glass making process.
We described it as a chip as it is larger than what one would expect from the pontil break, and was not smoothened.
On close inspection you can see some of the letters of the
CZECHO-SLOVAKIA
logo within an oval (See Photo #7).
