Description
Legendarily rare. All porcelain with the widely collected Blue Willow pattern by Minton and made in England between 1912-1950, this umbrella stand is in remarkable condition (please examine photos closely with zoom to be sure). With a small piece on the top rim that chipped and appears to have been put back on and hairline, shelf wear, and an old chip on the underside, it is astonishing how this umbrella stand survived at all with its sole purpose being to catch metal-tipped umbrellas in rainy England. We have seen 2 originals in our 34 years of collecting and heard of a third in England that was in pieces. It took us 10 years of focused pursuit to find one, and this one was found by my mother-in-law at a rainy boot sale in England at 5 in the morning. She was a long-time flow blue dealer and collector who was at the right place at the right time. With appeal to Flow Blue, Doulton, and Blue Willow collectors alike, any true collector will appreciate this one.Measurements are approximate:
20-1/2” high
9-5/8” wide
